Last friday our son had a day off at school. On this special day he wanted to go swimming, make real tomato soup and bake real pizza. So we went to a local farmers market to buy all ingredients, drop them off at home, went swimming and returned to make chicken stock, home made tomato sauce and pizza dough as the basics for the evening dinner. On sunday we’ve made vol-au-vent with the cooked chicken from the stock. A lot of work, but also huge fun! It’s a bit ironic that all three dishes are often associated with fast food or on the road food. But when you make them completely yourself it’s an honest, delicious, but also a labor intensive meal.
