In 2012 the Keyserlei was rehabilitated. With the introduction of a walking- and cycling boulevard also came a road surface with cobble stones. Not long after the reopening of the road heavy trucks and buses created something what could be seen as the perfect testgrond for Paris-Roubaix. Anno 2014 the city of Antwerp decided to renew the road surface into asphalt. Smooth to ride bikes, but… I’m wondering who had the bright idea to paint a cycle path on the road. And who said: why did you do that, you fool! The result is a painted bike sign introducing the beginning of a bicycle pad and an overpainted white stripe that could have give cyclists some place on the road.
